New Space Boom: German Satellite Maker Reflex Aerospace Secures Record €50M Funding

U.S. Clears $215 Million Sale of Advanced Navy Satellite Systems to the U.K.

German satellite maker Reflex Aerospace just closed a major funding round. The company raised €50 million ($57.5 million) in its Series A round. This is one of Europe’s largest Series A investments in the space sector. The funding round was led by Human Element. Reflex Aerospace plans to use this new capital to quickly increase production. They will expand their manufacturing center in Bavaria. The facility aims to produce up to 70 complex satellites each year. The company’s main goal is not huge satellite constellations. Instead, they focus on building high-performance satellites for defense clients.

CEO Walter Ballheimer stated that Europe needs independent space capabilities. The company’s flexible technology allows them to build custom satellites quickly. They can complete a complex project in less than nine months. This speed is crucial for meeting Europe’s rising defense needs. European governments are now heavily investing in sovereign space security.

The company’s focus is on securing Europe’s access to space-based intelligence. This includes reconnaissance, communications, and signal intelligence. The successful funding marks a strong signal for the growing “New Space” industry in Germany and Europe. Reflex aims to launch its advanced systems into orbit by 2027.
