OpenAI has announced that Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are joining its Stargate project, a global effort to expand AI infrastructure. The move will boost memory chip production to meet growing AI demand and support the development of advanced data centers in South Korea.
During a meeting in Seoul with President Lee Jae-myung, Samsung’s Jay Y. Lee, SK’s Chey Tae-won, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman, agreements were signed to explore large-scale data centers and strengthen Korea’s role in global AI development.
Both Samsung and SK will also integrate ChatGPT Enterprise and OpenAI API into their businesses, further embedding AI across industries.
This collaboration marks a major step for South Korea in shaping the future of AI.
