Elon Musk Launches AI-powered Encyclopedia “Grokipedia” to Rival Wikipedia

X (formerly Twitter) Tests New Link Policy to Re-Engage Journalists

Elon Musk has introduced Grokipedia, an AI-driven online encyclopedia created by his company xAI. It launched as version 0.1 with approximately 885,000 articles.

Musk positioned Grokipedia as a rival to Wikipedia, which he has publicly criticised for having a left-leaning bias. He said the new platform is committed to delivering “the full truth”.

Unlike Wikipedia, Grokipedia does not yet allow open editing by volunteers. Instead, articles appear to be generated or curated by the Grok AI model, raising questions about transparency and source quality.

Early scrutiny shows the articles often draw heavily from Wikipedia content, sometimes with fewer citations, and certain entries reflect conservative-leaning language or viewpoints.

The launch adds another dimension to debates about who controls online knowledge and how AI will shape information in the future.
