If you’re not building AI, you’re likely not getting funded.
According to PitchBook data reported by Bloomberg, AI startups have attracted $192.7 billion in venture capital so far this year — more than half of the $366.8 billion invested globally in 2025. In the most recent quarter, AI accounted for 62.7% of U.S. VC spending and 53.2% worldwide, marking a historic shift in investment focus.
Flagship deals like Anthropic’s $13 billion Series F have fueled the boom, while non-AI startups and smaller funds struggle to raise capital. Only 823 funds have been launched globally this year, down sharply from 4,430 in 2022.
PitchBook’s director of research Kyle Sanford described the trend as a “bifurcated market,” where “you’re in AI — or you’re not.”
