FC Cincinnati bolstered its defensive options on Thursday by securing the services of Polish goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek on loan from English Premier League giants Liverpool FC. The 22-year-old prospect joins the Orange and Blue as they look to solidify their position in the Eastern Conference standings during the early stages of the 2026 MLS campaign.
Mrozek, who has been a standout performer for Liverpool’s U-21 side and has frequently trained with the first team under the guidance of the Reds’ coaching staff, is highly regarded for his shot-stopping ability and composure on the ball. The loan deal is structured to run through the summer, with FC Cincinnati holding a specific option to extend the agreement for the remainder of the 2026 season.
The move comes at a critical time for Cincinnati. The club’s goalkeeping department has been stretched thin recently due to a string of minor injuries and international call-ups. By bringing in Mrozek, head coach Pat Noonan gains a young, hungry talent with elite European training experience to compete with current starter Roman Celentano.
“Fabian is a talented young goalkeeper with a strong pedigree from one of the best academies in the world,” FC Cincinnati General Manager Chris Albright said in a statement. “He brings a high level of technical skill and a competitive mindset to our group. We look forward to integrating him into the team immediately.”
During his time at Liverpool, Mrozek gained valuable experience in the EFL Trophy and the UEFA Youth League. While he has yet to make a senior appearance for the Liverpool first team, he has been a consistent presence on their bench in domestic cup competitions. The move to MLS is seen as a vital step in his professional development, providing him with the opportunity to earn consistent minutes in a first-team environment.
Mrozek is expected to join the squad in Cincinnati once his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC) are finalized. He could be available for selection as early as next weekend’s home match. For Liverpool, the loan allows them to monitor Mrozek’s progress in a league that is increasingly becoming a destination for top young European talent.
