Infectious Disease Experts Focus on AI, Public Health at IDWeek 2025 in Atlanta

Public Health at IDWeek 2025 in Atlanta

In Atlanta, thousands of doctors, researchers and medical students have gathered for IDWeek 2025, the annual conference on infectious diseases, running from October 19-22. The event takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center.

This year’s conference centers on three major themes: public-health strategy, artificial-intelligence tools in healthcare and preparedness for future disease outbreaks. Leading speakers include specialists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and six professional societies.

Attendees can choose from over 250 events covering topics such as RSV and shingles vaccine data, emerging AI in epidemiology, and work-force challenges for infectious-disease care. Networking programs like the “BugCrawl” and “NextGen ID Lounge” aim to engage trainees and early-career professionals.

Despite looming concerns about vaccine hesitancy, shrinking research funding and a potential U.S. government shutdown, the organizers emphasise collaboration and innovation. They hope the gathering will fortify efforts to protect global health in uncertain times.
