Ford Recalls Over 59,000 U.S. Vehicles Over Faulty Engine Block Heater

Ford is recalling over 1.4 million US vehicles due to a dangerous rearview camera failure issue.

Ford will recall 59,006 vehicles in the U.S. after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) flagged an issue with engine block heaters. The heater may crack and leak coolant. When plugged in, this can cause a short circuit.

The defect poses a risk of electrical failure or fire, especially in cold climates where drivers often rely on block heaters.  Ford said it will disable the heater cord at no cost to owners.

Affected models include specific Ford cars and trucks from recent years. Owners will be notified and asked to bring their vehicles to dealers for repair or replacement.

Ford emphasized that while the issue is serious, it does not impact the engines themselves. Still, drivers should avoid plugging in a heater that shows signs of cracking or leaking.

This recall adds to mounting concerns about vehicle safety and component defects. Regulators and automakers continue to work to catch such issues before they cause damage or harm.
