Nvidia to Deliver Over 260,000 AI Chips to South Korea in Major Deal

Nvidia announced it will supply more than 260,000 of its advanced AI chips to South Korea’s government and leading companies.

Under the deal, the South Korean government will receive around 50,000 chips to power its national AI infrastructure. Each of the tech giants Samsung Electronics, SK Group and Hyundai Motor Group will deploy up to 50,000 chips to enhance manufacturing, AI computing, and automotive innovation. Another 60,000 will go to search‐engine firm Naver.

The announcement came during the APEC Summit 2025 in Gyeongju, where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met South Korean leaders. The deal strengthens the nation’s AI ambitions and gives Nvidia a boost in markets outside China’s restricted environment.

For South Korea, the move supports its goal to become a regional AI hub under President Lee Jae Myung, who took office in June and prioritised AI development amid global tech tensions.

Analysts say the deal gives Nvidia broader global reach and aligns South Korea with next-gen technologies in semiconductors, smart manufacturing and mobility. The partnership also reflects growing AI hardware demand beyond consumer devices.
