Dubai Races Toward 100% Clean Energy by 2050 with AI and Solar Power

Dubai is taking bold steps to reach 100% clean energy by 2050. The city’s plan combines renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and innovation to build a sustainable future.

This effort supports national programs such as the UAE Net Zero 2050 and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050. Together, they aim to make Dubai a global model for green development.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is at the heart of this vision. It already generates 3,460 MW of electricity and will expand to 7,260 MW by 2030. This project alone will reduce 8 million tonnes of CO₂ each year and supply 34% of Dubai’s total power demand.

Artificial intelligence plays a big role in this progress. DEWA, Dubai’s power authority, uses AI-controlled turbines that boost efficiency by 3%. Its digital assistant Rammas, powered by ChatGPT, has answered over 10 million queries. Using Microsoft Copilot has also cut costs by half.

Research and innovation drive Dubai’s energy goals. The Sustainability and Innovation Centre supports work on hydrogen, energy storage, and waste-to-energy projects. A 250 MW hydropower plant and a 200 MW waste-to-energy facility are already under development.

Today, clean energy makes up 20% of Dubai’s power mix. By 2030, it aims for 34%, with CO₂ emissions already down 28.6%. Dubai’s clean energy journey shows how technology and vision can work together for a greener world.
