US Treasury Confirms $1 Trump Coin Draft Is Real
A commemorative $1 coin featuring President Donald Trump’s portrait may be issued by the US Mint in 2026 to mark America’s 250th anniversary, according to draft images confirmed by the US Treasury.
US Treasurer Brandon Beach verified the designs in a post on X, saying, “No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and @POTUS are real.” The draft shows Trump’s side profile with the words “Liberty” and “In God We Trust,” along with the dates 1776–2026. The reverse depicts Trump raising his fist after the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt, framed by the words “Fight Fight Fight.”
However, the design could face legal challenges. US law prohibits the image of any living or recently deceased president on circulating coins. The Treasury emphasized that the design is only an early draft, noting, “A final $1 coin design has not yet been selected.”
The coin would be part of the Semiquincentennial Coin Program, authorized by Congress to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday with special $1 designs beginning in 2026.
