Pakistan’s Finance Minister Heads to U.S. for IMF, World Bank Talks

Islamabad / Washington — Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has departed for the United States to attend the annual IMF and World Bank meetings, where he is expected to engage with top multilateral lenders as well as counterparts from several key nations.

During his six-day visit, Aurangzeb will meet with senior officials from the IMF, World Bank, International Finance Corporation, and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.

He is also slated to hold a one-on-one session with World Bank President Ajay Banga and deliver a keynote address under the G24/MENAP (Middle East, North Africa & Pakistan) framework.

A key topic will be a regional roundtable hosted by the World Bank on digital transformation at Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), with tax authorities from multiple countries joining the discussion.

Aurangzeb will also pursue bilateral meetings with counterparts from China, the U.K., Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, and engage U.S. government officials, legislators, and business leaders to promote investment and tax reforms.
