Musk Threatens “Thermonuclear” Lawsuit Over Ads Next to Nazi Content on X

Elon Musk says X (formerly Twitter) will file a “thermonuclear lawsuit” against Media Matters for America, after the watchdog reported that major brands’ ads were appearing next to pro-Nazi content on his platform.

Musk accused Media Matters of manipulating data, calling the report “pure evil.” He vowed legal action against the organization and anyone who “colluded” in what he calls a fraudulent attack on X.

Media Matters pushed back, saying Musk is trying to silence truthful reporting. The group noted Musk himself had admitted that some ads in question ran alongside extremist content. It promised to defend itself aggressively in court.

The controversy follows a wave of advertisers pulling campaigns from X after Musk appeared to endorse antisemitic posts. The media watchdog’s report triggered that backlash by highlighting how monetization and content moderation intersect dangerously.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino responded by reaffirming the platform’s zero-tolerance stance on antisemitism and hate content. She emphasized ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity of ad placements and user experience.
