Jersey Conference Sparks Hope for ADHD "Real Change" and Neuroinclusive Future

Organizers hoped a two-day conference on ADHD would start “real change.” The event was held at the Pomme d’Or Hotel. ADHD Jersey hosted the successful conference. Experts and charities spoke about needed improvements. They want Jersey to become more neuroinclusive.

Rachel Boss, founder of ADHD Jersey, said the attendance was great. Professionals from probation, education, and social services were there. “It’s so nice to see that ADHD is finally being taken seriously,” she stated. Ms. Boss also shared a personal hope. She wants future generations, like her grandchildren, to get needed support.

Lesley Harrison from Autism Jersey discussed the need for teamwork. She noted the overlap and shared challenges between autism and ADHD. Collaboration is important.

John Liot from Haute Vallée School spoke about education. He said the island is moving positively. He believes the current system does not work for neurodiverse children.

Campaigner Andrea Bilbow OBE was a key speaker. She represents a UK-based national ADHD charity. Ms. Bilbow called ADHD a major mental health issue.

Helping people early saves money, she argued. She noted that a high percentage of people in the prison system have this condition.

The new Neuroinclusive Strategy Jersey aims to raise awareness. It will also improve available support. This three-year strategy is a major step forward for the island.
