Giant Inflatable Bowel Set to Tour Leicester to Raise Cancer Awareness
A giant inflatable bowel is coming to Leicester this week to help raise awareness about bowel cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early screening.
The 19ft x 7ft walk-through model will give visitors an interactive look at how bowel cancer develops and progresses. The initiative is part of Bowel Cancer UK’s 2025 roadshow, aimed at encouraging early detection and lifesaving conversations.
Where to See It
The inflatable bowel will be open to the public from 10:00 to 16:00 GMT at three locations:
- Tuesday: Beaumont Shopping Centre, Beaumont Leys
- Wednesday: Asda, Narborough Road
- Thursday: Humberstone Gate
Visitors can step inside, view detailed displays, and talk to experts for advice and screening information.
Raising Awareness, Saving Lives
Genevieve Edwards, chief executive of Bowel Cancer UK, said the event helps make important conversations easier:
“We’re hoping our giant inflatable bowel will be a fun and engaging way to break the ice and start lifesaving conversations.”
She stressed that knowing the symptoms and attending screenings can significantly increase early detection rates.
Key Symptoms of Bowel Cancer
Look out for the following signs and contact your GP if you notice any:
- Bleeding from your bottom
- Blood in your poo
- Changes in bowel habits (diarrhoea or constipation)
- Unexplained weight loss
- Unusual tiredness or fatigue
- Pain or a lump in your tummy
Bowel cancer is one of the UK’s most common cancers, but early detection saves lives. Screening is available for eligible individuals, and attending appointments can be crucial.
