Apple’s Eddy Cue Weighs In on Rumors of F1 Broadcasting Rights

Apple’s senior vice president, Eddy Cue, addressed speculation that Apple may acquire Formula 1 broadcasting rights in the U.S. He spoke at the Autosport Business Exchange in New York, calling F1 a sport he deeply loves.

Cue said he has nothing to announce yet, though the current deal with ESPN ends in 2025. He noted the rumored annual cost is around $140 million, which is much higher than what ESPN currently pays.

He recalled how his interest in F1 began as a kid, reading magazines long before U.S. broadcasts showed the sport. Now, he’s said to maintain close relationships with league executives.

Cue also commented on how F1 is evolving in the U.S. He pointed out that many team principals and drivers have become “movie stars” in public appeal—further raising F1’s profile in entertainment and culture.

In short: while Apple hasn’t made a move yet, Cue’s comments signal serious interest. The company may still vie for F1 rights as the 2025 contract with ESPN concludes.
