Adtalem and Google Cloud Launch AI Training Program for Healthcare Professionals

Adtalem Global Education has partnered with Google Cloud to launch a new AI credential program that will train healthcare workers to use artificial intelligence safely and effectively. The program is designed to help medical students, nurses, and practitioners apply AI in real-world clinical settings while understanding its ethical and technical dimensions.

Starting in 2026, the course will be available across Adtalem’s network of institutions, including Chamberlain University and Walden University. Participants will gain hands-on experience with Google’s Gemini models and Vertex AI, learning how to analyze medical data, streamline clinical workflows, and improve patient outcomes.

The goal is to bridge a growing skills gap. While hospitals and health systems are rapidly adopting AI, many healthcare professionals feel unprepared to use it. A recent Harris Poll found that 42% of healthcare workers fear AI could replace parts of their jobs, and less than half feel confident using it in daily tasks.

By completing the new credential, graduates will be better positioned to work alongside AI systems rather than compete with them. The curriculum will also emphasize responsible AI use, covering ethics, patient safety, and bias reduction—topics crucial to maintaining public trust in digital medicine.

With more than 91,000 active students and 365,000 alumni, Adtalem believes the partnership will strengthen its role as a leader in healthcare education. Google Cloud says the initiative aligns with its mission to make AI tools accessible to professionals who can use them to improve lives.

This collaboration highlights a critical shift: preparing the next generation of healthcare workers to combine medical expertise with AI fluency, ensuring that technology enhances—not replaces—human care.
